Best credit cards for online shopping in Singapore: the short answer

If you collect miles, the HSBC Revolution Card is the standout in 2026: 4 miles per dollar on all online and contactless spend, capped at S$1,000 per calendar month, with no minimum spend and no annual fee. The 4 mpd rate was made permanent on 1 April 2026.

For Shopee, Lazada or TikTok Shop, the Citi Rewards Card paired with an Amaze card is the only reliable way to earn 4 mpd — because most online cards quietly do not pay a bonus on these platforms due to merchant category coding.

For fashion and department store shoppers (Zara, Uniqlo, Charles & Keith, Takashimaya, TANGS), the OCBC Rewards Card earns 4 mpd on its merchant whitelist plus a rotating 6 mpd quarterly promo that historically includes Lazada and Shopee.

For cashback, the Standard Chartered Smart Card pays 6% on selected merchants with no minimum spend, the Maybank Family & Friends Card pays 8% on online when selected, and the Trust Cashback Card pays 15% on one chosen category. For the no-thinking option, the AMEX True Cashback Card pays a flat 1.5% on everything with no minimum spend and no cap.

Last verified: 1 June 2026. Bonus categories, caps and minimum spends change frequently, and merchant category codes can shift when platforms change payment processors. Always confirm the current terms on the issuer’s product page before applying or relying on a specific rate.

1. Why online shopping bonuses are so confusing

Online shopping is the category where credit card bonuses fail most often. The reason is invisible to shoppers: every merchant is assigned a Merchant Category Code (MCC), and most "online retail" bonuses only pay on a specific list of MCCs. Shopee and Lazada are not coded as online retail.

Shopee Singapore codes as MCC 5262 (Marketplaces), which UOB has explicitly excluded from the UOB One Card’s eligible spend, alongside ShopeePay and TikTok Shop. Lazada codes as MCC 5411 (Grocery, Supermarkets). Amazon.sg codes as MCC 5969 (Direct Marketing). Qoo10 codes as MCC 5699 (Accessory and Apparel).

The result: a card advertised as "best for online" may pay zero bonus at the platform you actually shop at. The fix is either (a) pick a card with a wide online definition that includes those MCCs, like the HSBC Revolution Card or the Citi Rewards Card, or (b) route the payment through an Amaze card, which we explain in section 5.

2. Which card to use, by your situation

3. Best miles cards for online shopping

The standard online miles rate is 4 miles per dollar (mpd). The right card depends on the cap structure and how flexible the "online" definition is at the platforms you actually shop at.

1. HSBC Revolution Card: 4 mpd permanent, no annual fee

The HSBC Revolution Card earns 4 mpd on all online and contactless spend, capped at S$1,000 per calendar month. It has no minimum spend, no annual fee, and the 4 mpd rate was made permanent on 1 April 2026 after years of being a rolling promotion. That makes it the most reliable, lowest-friction online miles card in 2026.

Best for: anyone starting out, anyone who does not want to deal with minimum spend conditions, and anyone who wants a single card that doubles as a contactless option for in-person shopping.

2. Citi Rewards Card: 4 mpd, the widest online definition

The Citi Rewards Card earns 4 mpd on online and shopping spend, capped at S$1,000 per statement month. The MileLion calls it the standout for online retail because Citi’s definition of "online" is the broadest in Singapore — it captures more merchants than any other 4 mpd card.

It also pairs with an Amaze card to extend 4 mpd to platforms that would otherwise pay zero bonus (Shopee, Lazada, TikTok Shop). Best for: high-spend online shoppers who want the safety net of the Amaze workaround.

3. DBS Woman's World Mastercard: 4 mpd, women only, separate cap

The DBS Woman’s World Mastercard earns 4 mpd on online spend, capped at S$1,000 per calendar month. The cap is separate from the Citi Rewards cap, so the two cards stacked together cover up to S$2,000 of monthly online spend at 4 mpd.

Best for: women who already hold the card for other DBS perks and want to maximise the combined 4 mpd ceiling alongside Citi Rewards.

4. UOB Lady’s Card: 4 mpd if you select Shopping

The UOB Lady’s Card earns 4 mpd on online and offline spend when you select Shopping as your quarterly bonus category, capped at S$1,000 per calendar month (Solitaire S$750). The category includes department stores and most ecommerce platforms.

Best for: existing Lady’s cardholders who want to channel ecommerce spend into the same bonus pool as fashion and beauty.

5. OCBC Rewards Card: 4 mpd on a fashion and department store whitelist

The OCBC Rewards Card earns 4 mpd (10X OCBC$) on a fixed MCC whitelist that covers fashion, sports apparel, dept stores, luggage and duty-free shops — think Zara, Uniqlo, Charles & Keith, Lululemon, Nike, Decathlon, Takashimaya, TANGS and Marks & Spencer — capped at roughly S$1,110 per calendar month. The cap is separate from HSBC Revolution, Citi Rewards and DBS Woman’s World, so it stacks neatly on top.

The catch: Shopee (MCC 5262) and Lazada (MCC 5411) are NOT on the OCBC whitelist for the base 4 mpd rate, so direct purchases on those platforms earn only 0.4 mpd. Two important workarounds: (a) OCBC runs a rotating quarterly 6 mpd promotion that historically includes Lazada and Shopee, and (b) buying HeyMax vouchers codes as MCC 5311 (Department Stores), which IS on the whitelist — effectively unlocking 4 mpd on anything HeyMax sells, including Lazada and Shopee gift cards.

Best for: anyone whose online spend skews towards fashion, apparel and department stores, and who already uses HeyMax to top up their other miles bonuses.

4. Best cashback cards for online shopping

Cashback cards return a percentage of online spend with no points to manage. Ranked by real-world value at the typical platforms.

1. Standard Chartered Smart Card: 6%, no minimum spend

The Standard Chartered Smart Card pays 6% cashback on selected Bonus Merchants — which include major online platforms — capped at S$60 per month with no minimum spend. The no-minimum is rare among cashback cards and makes it ideal for light or irregular online spenders.

Best for: anyone who wants a simple, no-pressure cashback card just for online shopping.

2. Maybank Family & Friends: 8% if you select online

The Maybank Family & Friends Card pays 8% cashback on online shopping when you select it as one of your bonus categories, with a S$800 monthly minimum spend and a per-category cap of around S$25 a month. Higher headline rate than the SC Smart card, but the lower cap means it suits smaller, frequent baskets rather than one-off big buys.

3. Trust Cashback Credit Card: 15% on one chosen category

The Trust Cashback Credit Card pays 15% cashback on one preferred category, capped at S$250 per quarter. Pick "online" or "shopping" if that is your largest recurring spend; you need around S$1,666 per quarter (about S$555 a month) in the chosen category to max out the cap.

4. HSBC Live+ Card: 5% on shopping and online food delivery

The HSBC Live+ Card pays 5% cashback on shopping (including online), dining, groceries and online food delivery, capped at S$250 per quarter, with a S$600 monthly minimum spend. The category overlap makes it a strong all-rounder if your lifestyle spend is spread across these areas.

5. UOB One Card: highest tier rate, but check the exclusions

The UOB One Card pays up to 6% cashback on all eligible spend with qualifying minimum spend across three consecutive months. The trap: UOB has explicitly excluded Shopee Singapore, ShopeePay and TikTok Shop from eligible spend, meaning your largest online platforms may earn zero. Best treated as a general cashback card, not an online-shopping card.

6. AMEX True Cashback Card: 1.5% flat, no minimum, no cap

The AMEX True Cashback Card pays a flat 1.5% cashback on everythingno minimum spend, no cap, no categories to track. Headline rate is the lowest in this list, but the no-cap structure makes it the highest effective cashback for any single online purchase above the other cards’ caps (e.g. an S$1,500 Lazada electronics order). The trade-off is AMEX acceptance: most major Singapore platforms accept AMEX, but a handful of marketplaces and smaller merchants do not.

Best for: large one-off online purchases, AMEX loyalists, and anyone who finds the cap-tracking and category-selection on every other card too much hassle.

5. The Amaze workaround for platforms that do not earn

Shopee, Lazada, TikTok Shop and a handful of other major platforms code under merchant categories that most "online retail" bonuses do not cover. The Instarem Amaze card is the standard workaround: it routes every transaction as a payment to Instarem (MCC 6051, Financial Services), which most miles cards count as online retail. This matters even more for the OCBC Rewards Card, whose whitelist is narrower than HSBC Revolution or Citi Rewards — only fashion, dept store and luggage MCCs qualify directly.

Pair the Amaze card with the Citi Rewards Card and you earn 4 mpd on virtually any online platform in Singapore, including Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop. The S$1,000 per statement month Citi Rewards cap still applies.

The catch: from 1 January 2026, Amaze charges a 1% admin fee on all SGD transactions (minimum S$0.50). Despite the fee, the trade-off is still strongly net positive — 4 mpd is worth roughly 8 cents per dollar at typical miles valuations, so a 1% fee leaves you about 7 cents per dollar ahead of using a card that earns zero bonus on the same platform.

Best for: anyone whose monthly online spend is mostly on Shopee, Lazada or TikTok Shop, where the alternative is earning the card’s base rate (typically 0.4 mpd) instead of 4 mpd.

6. Best card for your specific platform

Because MCCs differ by platform, the best card depends entirely on where you shop. The table below shows the top miles card and any platform-specific gotchas.

Best card by online platform

Platform

Note

Shopee Singapore

Citi Rewards + Amaze

MCC 5262 (Marketplaces). Excluded from UOB One. NOT on OCBC Rewards whitelist. Most online bonuses do not pay direct.

Amazon.sg

HSBC Revolution or Citi Rewards

MCC 5969 (Direct Marketing). Earns on most online cards.

TikTok Shop

Citi Rewards + Amaze

MCC often unrecognised. Excluded from UOB One. Amaze workaround recommended.

Qoo10

HSBC Revolution or Citi Rewards

MCC 5699 (Accessory and Apparel). Earns on most online cards plus OCBC Rewards.

Zalora / fashion (Zara, Uniqlo, Charles & Keith)

OCBC Rewards or HSBC Revolution

7. Stacking: card x platform voucher x cashback portal

The single biggest online-shopping mistake is treating your credit card, platform voucher and cashback portal as alternatives. They stack — each layer rewards the same purchase independently and the total saving often reaches 15% to 25%.

Layer 1: platform vouchers and coins

Shopee Coins, Lazada Wallet credit and Amazon Prime promo codes apply at checkout before the card is even charged. Our singapore promo codes hub aggregates the live ecommerce codes worth using each week.

Layer 2: the right credit card (or the Amaze workaround)

Pay with the highest-earning card for that platform from sections 3 and 4. If the platform is on the exclusion list (Shopee, TikTok Shop), use the Citi Rewards plus Amaze workaround to keep the 4 mpd rate.

Layer 3: cashback portal

Starting the order from a cashback portal such as ShopBack or HeyMax adds a further 3% to 10% rebate on top of your card and platform vouchers. ShopBack regularly runs upsized cashback days on Shopee and Lazada (5% to 10%), and HeyMax converts the rebate into Max Miles transferable to 30-plus airline and hotel partners.

Worked example: a S$200 Shopee order, paid with the Citi Rewards plus Amaze combo (4 mpd minus the 1% fee ≈ net 7 cents per dollar), stacked with a Shopee voucher and a ShopBack upsized 8% rebate (S$16). Total saving: roughly 15% to 20% in combined value, on a platform where the wrong card would have paid zero.

Other Singapore money-saving guides

Once you have picked an online shopping card, the guides below help you stack it with platform vouchers, sign-up bonuses, or your other recurring spend.

Card earn rates, caps, minimum spends and MCC details verified on 1 June 2026 from The MileLion 2026 Credit Card Strategy (2 January 2026) and OCBC Rewards Card review (29 May 2026), Sethisfy "Best Cashback and Miles Cards" 2026, SingSaver, MoneySmart, ValueChampion, and individual issuer pages (HSBC, Citibank, UOB, OCBC, Standard Chartered, Maybank, Trust, American Express). Bonus categories, caps and exclusions change frequently, and merchant category codes can shift when platforms change payment processors. Always check the issuer’s current product page and the latest terms and conditions before applying or relying on a specific earn rate.

8. Frequently asked questions about credit cards for online shopping in Singapore

What is the best credit card for online shopping in Singapore?

It depends on the platform. For most mainstream sites (Amazon, Lazada, Qoo10), the HSBC Revolution Card earns 4 mpd with no minimum spend and no annual fee. For Shopee, TikTok Shop and other excluded platforms, the Citi Rewards Card paired with an Amaze card is the only reliable 4 mpd option. For cashback, the Standard Chartered Smart Card pays 6% with no minimum spend.

Why does my Shopee spend not earn credit card cashback?

Because Shopee Singapore codes as MCC 5262 (Marketplaces) rather than MCC 5969 or 5411 that most "online retail" bonuses target. UOB has explicitly excluded Shopee Singapore, ShopeePay and TikTok Shop from the UOB One Card’s eligible spend. The fix is to use a card with a wider online definition (HSBC Revolution, Citi Rewards) or route the payment through an Amaze card.

Is the Amaze card worth using in 2026?

Yes, on platforms where your card would otherwise pay zero bonus. From 1 January 2026, Amaze charges a 1% admin fee on SGD transactions, but pairing it with the Citi Rewards Card still nets roughly 7 cents per dollar in value (4 mpd minus 1% fee) on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop. The fee makes Amaze less attractive for everyday spend that would already earn 4 mpd, but it remains the best workaround for excluded platforms.

Did HSBC Revolution change its rate in 2026?

Yes — on 1 April 2026, HSBC made the 4 mpd rate on online and contactless spend permanent, after running it as a rolling promotion for years. The S$1,000 per calendar month cap and the no-min-spend, no-annual-fee structure remain unchanged. The card is now the most reliable entry-level online miles card in Singapore.

Which credit card gives the highest cashback for online shopping?

The Trust Cashback Credit Card pays the highest flat headline rate at 15% on one selectable category (cap S$250 per quarter). The Maybank Family & Friends Card pays 8% when online is selected, with a S$800 monthly minimum. The Standard Chartered Smart Card pays a lower 6% but has no minimum spend, which often makes it the highest effective rate for light online shoppers. For unlimited spend with no cap, the AMEX True Cashback Card pays a flat 1.5% with no minimum.

Which credit card earns the most on Zalora, Zara, Uniqlo or Charles & Keith?

The OCBC Rewards Card. Its 4 mpd whitelist explicitly covers MCC 5611–5699 (men’s, women’s, family, children’s clothing and apparel accessories), MCC 5311 (department stores) and MCC 5941 (sporting goods), capped at roughly S$1,110 per calendar month. The cap is separate from HSBC Revolution and Citi Rewards, so a heavy fashion shopper can hold the OCBC Rewards Card for fashion sites and the HSBC Revolution Card for everything else.

Can I earn miles on Klook and Trip.com with these cards?

No — Klook, Trip.com and most online travel agents code as MCC 4722 (Travel Agencies), which earns on travel-bonus cards (UOB PRVI Miles, KrisFlyer UOB, DBS Altitude) rather than general online cards like HSBC Revolution or Citi Rewards. See our best credit cards guide for travel-specific card picks.

Can I stack a credit card with Shopee Coins or Lazada vouchers?

Yes. Platform vouchers apply at checkout before your card is even charged, so the card still earns its full bonus on the post-voucher amount. A cashback portal such as ShopBack or HeyMax adds a third layer on top, regularly reaching 5% to 10% during upsized cashback days.

Which online platforms are excluded from UOB One eligible spend?

Per UOB’s own FAQ, the UOB One Card excludes Shopee Singapore, ShopeePay top-ups and TikTok Shop from eligible spend for the cashback calculation. SimplyGo bus and train rides are also excluded. If these platforms are your main online spend, the UOB One Card will not work as an online-shopping card — pick HSBC Revolution or the Citi Rewards plus Amaze combo instead.

How do I know which MCC my favourite store codes as?

There is no official public lookup. The most reliable way is to check a recent statement: the bank usually prints the MCC against each transaction. Major Singapore merchants are also documented in community posts on r/singaporefi and on cashback-card review sites. Our best cashback credit cards guide lists the most common merchant codes seen on Singapore statements.
