8. How 1-for-1 buffet promos actually work

Three rules cover almost every Singapore 1-for-1 buffet deal. Knowing them prevents nasty surprises at the cashier.

Pay-with-the-named-card rule. The promo only triggers when your final bill is settled with the eligible bank card. Splitting bills is usually disallowed; digital wallet versions of the same card may be excluded (Maybank explicitly bans Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay).

Quote-on-reservation rule. Most deals require you to mention the bank promo at the time of booking ("Maybank 1-for-1" or "GWPxMaybank" or similar). Walk-ins typically do not qualify even if you have the right card.

Two-paying-rule. "1-for-1" really means buy one, get one free - so a table of 4 pays for 2, a table of 6 pays for 3. Odd-numbered groups pay full price for the extra adult. There's usually a per-bill cap of 2-4 redemptions on the same card.
